Plans and credits

Two actions use credits in betterdesign: copying a screen into Figma, and fetching a screen from a connected AI tool. Browsing, searching, filtering, saving, and opening screens are all unlimited on every plan, including the free one.

Your allowance is counted in credits, and both actions draw on the same allowance:

What uses a credit

A credit pays for one screen for the rest of your billing cycle.

  • Copying or fetching the same screen again in the same cycle is free. It does not matter whether you use the site, an AI tool, or both.
  • Pasting a copied screen into Figma any number of times is still one credit. The clipboard is yours once you have it.
  • Being refused because you are out of credits is not counted. A refusal never costs you a credit.
  • An AI tool asking for a screen whose project has no design.md yet gets nothing, and no credit is used.

If a copy fails

A credit is used when the copy is approved, just before the screen reaches your clipboard.

  • If we fail to deliver the screen, the credit is returned automatically.
  • If the clipboard step fails on your side (you declined the permission prompt, or your browser blocked the write), the credit has been used. Press Copy to Figma on that screen again: the second copy is free, because the screen is already paid for in this cycle.

When your credits reset

Credits reset all at once at the start of each cycle, and unused credits do not carry over — the count simply starts again from zero.

Free plan: monthly, from your sign-up date

Your free cycle starts on the day of the month you signed up. If you joined on the 14th, your credits reset on the 14th of every month. (If you joined on the 31st, months without a 31st reset on their last day.)

Every plan’s allowance is a monthly one. On a monthly plan the cycle is your billing period: when your subscription renews, the count returns to zero.

A yearly plan works the same way, month by month. You get your monthly allowance at the start of each month of your subscription year, counted from the date you subscribed. Credits you don’t use in a month don’t roll over into the next.

If your subscription ends or is cancelled, you move to the free allowance from that date. Credits you used while you were paying do not count against it. Connected AI tools stop working until you are on a paid plan again; your API keys are kept and work again when you resubscribe.

Settings → Plan & Billing shows your credits used, your limit, and the date they next reset.

How many credits do I get?

Your allowance comes from your plan, and current numbers live on the pricing page — they are deliberately not repeated here, because a number in two places eventually disagrees with itself.

Running out

When you have used your allowance, Copy to Figma stops and offers an upgrade, and a connected AI tool is told the date your credits reset. Searching keeps working in both. Screens you already paid for in this cycle can still be copied or fetched again.

Nothing else about your account changes: your saved screens, your history, and the screens you already copied are all untouched.
